Our daughter Emily Akins was killed by a drunk driver on April 9th 2016 while riding her bicycle three houses away from her grandmother's house in Casa Grande Az. The woman that ran over her then fled the scene and was later apprehended after someone turned her in. Emily was involved in many activities at her high school, her church and the community. She was the commander of her J.R.O.T.C. class, she was also the S.A.D.D. chapter president at her school and heavily involved with the Toy's for Tots foundation as well as high school track, F.A.A. and her school band. She also loved skateboarding, playing her guitar and riding her bike.

This M.A.D.D. $15 per rider fundraising bike ride event is a way to honor our daughter for the good she was able to accomplish in her short life and to ride in her memory and the memory of others we have lost from being killed by drunk drivers. We also hope it will bring more awareness in the community for the safety of cyclists. We are riding for those who can no longer ride. We are also giving voices for those who have no voice.
